Blepharoplasty (Upper and Lower Eyelid Surgery) in Lubbock, TX

Elegant female with beautiful periorbital eye area

Cosmetic eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is performed in Lubbock, TX, to enhance the appearance of upper and/or lower eyelids.

Also known as "eye lift" surgery, it aims to reduce drooping and excess skin, often creating a tired or puffy look.

Patients are often surprised by the significant impact of this minimally invasive procedure, making them appear younger and more vibrant.

The surgery involves modifying skin, muscle, and fat to achieve a rejuvenated look.

Typical signs of aging in upper eyelids include sagging skin and excess fat, while lower eyelids may have excess skin or fat.

Surgery can correct these issues, potentially improving vision in the upper eyelids and rejuvenating the lower eyelids.

Candidates for eyelid surgery may have drooping eyelids, excess skin on upper eyelids, under-eye bags, puffy lower eyelids, or asymmetry in eyelid position.

How we do it differently?

For the upper eyelid, we utilize the tarsal fixation method. This ensures a long-lasting result that is also functional and naturally dynamic in opening the eyes. We avoid the ‘postblepharoplasty’ look that is common after a skin only excision blepharoplasty. This includes stretching and thinning of the skin and rise of the crease, leading to recurrence of ‘excess’ skin that is stretched out skin.

We also frequently combine the blepharoplasty with fat grafting and brow ptosis correction to give you a more elegant and natural result.

For the lower eyelid, we utilizes the transconjunctival approach, meaning no incision in your lower eyelid skin (unless skin excision is needed). We usually will also fat graft the cheek/lower lid area to help sculpt this area.

Depending on the looseness or drooping of the lower lid, Dr Boonipat may suggest an extra procedure on the outer corner or lateral canthus of the eye.

These additional procedures include canthopexy or canthoplasty.

Canthopexy involves anchoring the outer corner of the eye to prevent further sagging.

Canthoplasty, a more complex procedure, involves extensive dissection and reshaping of the area.

  • What is the difference between oral/maxillofacial surgeon and plastic surgeon?
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons have a dental background. They went to dental school prior to obtaining their training in maxillofacial surgery. The training involved dental implants, third molar removal, facial fractures, orthognathic surgery, and in some programs free flaps reconstruction for the head and neck. Plastic Surgeons goes to medical school prior to residency. In plastic surgery residency, the training does not involve dental implants, or third molar removal. It does involve facial fractures, orthognathic surgery, free flap reconstruction in the head and neck and the rest of the body. Plastic surgeons also have extensive training in facial aesthetics. Dr. Boonipat further his plastic surgery training with a concentrated fellowship in aesthetic jaw surgery in Taiwan. He is well qualified to address both your functional concerns by working with your orthodontist (braces/teeth doctor), and your aesthetic concerns because of his plastic surgery and fellowship training. In many cases, jaw surgery can be performed with other aesthetic procedures to improve your aesthetic outcome, all under one anesthesia.
